Job Summary:

To develop legal and technical expertise in order to handle cases of a complex and diverse nature and with an emphasis on litigation.  To assist the team leader with the progression and mentoring of other team members.

 Role and Responsibilities:

  • Having a thorough understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules in order to litigate up to 50% of caseload in order to deliver individual targets. 
  • To be comfortable and confident in handling multi-party litigation and multi-track cases.
  • Having an ability to undertake a range of work including non RTA cases such as fatal accidents and EL/PL matters with minimal supervision
  • Able to provide mentoring and guidance to more junior team members in progressing cases.
  • To provide support and assistance to team leaders and team members by instigating and demonstrating best practice.

Candidate profile - technical and behavioural:

  • In-depth knowledge of different types of personal injury claims including EL/PL and fatal accidents. 
  • A competency in core legal skills especially advocacy, drafting Court and complicated documents and negotiation.
  • Confidence and experience in a breadth of quantum values and an ability to manage and assess larger loss cases.
  • Thorough grasp of and familiarity with the Civil Procedural Rules and litigation process.
  • An ability to prioritise effectively and to meet targets set.
  • Experience of mentoring others.
  • Preferably having achieved a recognised professional level of recognition such as solicitor, FILEX or similar.
  • Is able to motivate self and others.
